Daughter of an Irish immigrant, she was raised in the farm life in Attala County, MS, near Ethel. Her parents were David McGosh Bell and Ella Bellaura Thompson. She married Herbert Pope Fullilove in 1915 and they raised 5 children. After her husband's death in 1954, she sold the old Fullilove homestead in Attala County and moved to Houston, TX, to live with her children. Her's was the last Fullilove family to live on the property that had been their's for a hundred years. She was a widow for fifty years when she died at the age of 107 in 2002.
