Arthur Leiser Jr. died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at age 91. He was born in Palestine, Texas on July 10, 1921 to Ruth and Arthur Leiser.

He is survived and missed by his loving wife of 68 years, Mecy Jessup Leiser, special sister-in-law Doris Delany of Virginia, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Bernard Leiser.

Art graduated from Lamar High School in Houston in 1939 and then served in the US Navy during WWII as Chief Signalman. He began his career with various Texas savings and loans and later served as Chief Examiner and Director of Examinations for the Texas Savings and Loan system until his retirement in 1988. He remained in banking, serving as a consultant.

Art loved the game of tennis and stayed active at Westwood Country Club well into his 80's. The Leisers were longtime members of Bellaire UMC in Houston and First UMC in Austin.

Family and friends would like to thank the many staff at Querencia who cared for Art for over three years.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Austin, or a charity of your choice.
