Opera Singer. A soprano, she sang in major venues throughout the United Kingdom and Europe. Raised in Wrexham, Wales, she manifested her talent early and after local study was trained in Belgium and in Zurich, Switzerland. Following her 1998 graduation from the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, she was a finalist in the International Singing Competition at Dresden, Germany, then had a distinguished career, her credits including Fiordigili from Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" with the Royal Flemish Opera in Ghent and Antwerp and Rosina in a much praised touring production of Rossini's "The Barber of Seville". Some of Cecilia's other characters included Mimi in Puccini's "La Boheme" which she performed for Dublin's Daylight Opera and also Donna Elvira from Mozart's "Don Giovanni" and the unhappy title lead of Puccini's "Tosca". Acclaimed in the West End as Carlotta from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera", she appeared in a number of recitals at St. David's Hall, Cardiff, and elsewhere, performed Verdi's "Requiem" at Canterbury Cathedral, was a regular on SP4's Welsh language "Divas Concert" series, and for her final three years was head of the music and drama department at the LVS Ascot School, Berkshire. Cecilia died after a short battle with heart disease; at her demise she could be heard on several live recordings of her performances.
