Mrs. Torkel E. Aarestad, who has been ill since September, died at the family home at 103 Seventh street northeast, Wednesday night at 7:45 o’clock.
Mrs. Aarestad, whose maiden name was Miss Serina Tengesdal, was born in Egersund, Norway, February 23, 1891. She attended school in Norway and came to Maxbass with her brother Hans in 1909. She was employed in and near Cooperstown. Mr. Aarestad and Miss Tengesdal were married at Cooperstown November 25, 1911. They made their home in Griggs county until 1913 when the family moved to Foster county. When they retired from farming in May 1946 they came to Jamestown to make their home. They are the parents of eight sons and daughters. One son preceded his mother in death.
Surviving are her husband and the following sons and daughters. Stanley, Mrs. Gordon Hartvikson, Esther and Mertis, Jamestown: Erwin, Crookston, Minn.: Selmer, Wahpeton: and Wilfred, Carrington. Also surviving is one brother, Hans, Tacoma, Wash.: and two sisters in Norway.
Funeral services will be held at the Jamestown Armory Saturday at 1 o’clock. Walter Jardin, Bismarck will be in charge of the services. Burial will be made in Highland Home Cemetery. The body is at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
