Mr. Percy was an honest man of valor and and strong character. He was created in the image of God and destined for greatness. His advice was often hard-hitting, straightforward and yet compassionate. He was loved by all who knew him.
He is the father of 10 known children; Atherias Mayfield- Hanson, his first born (with Clara White); James (Jonas Flennory-{with Viola Watts) and 8 others, he was a loving father, husband and friend. After the death of his wife in 1961, he reared 7 children without financial add or domestic help.
He worked as a Master Chief at a well known tourist eatery in downtown Mobile, Alabama for thirty four years. He retired at age 62. Moving to California in 1971. There he continued raising his 16 year old adopted son Gregory Walker Flennory (Helen Walker) and his granddaughter Angela Flennory(mother Slaughter)who was only age 7. He later took care of four of Angela's children solely on his own including an 18 moth old (Copelesky Flennory)and four others; Latoya, Shalesa, Davonne, and later Persia and Kathy were born. Mr. Percy (as he was called by everyone) had legal custody of these four children in 1989 when he died.
His 7 other children[Eliza's])were: Percy Flennory Jr., Rosie Mary (Keller-Wyer)nee- Flennory, Willie A. Flennory, Therisa Flennory, Johnny Flennory, Mary E. (Flennory) McCoy, Eva Gordon (Flennory), Percy Pettaway-Flennory Son of Percy Flennory and Mary Pettaway.
