Shirley Estave Cavalier, 79, a native of Bayou L'Ourse and resident of Adams' Landing in Belle River, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, sister and friend to all she knew.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Cavalier, and his wife, Ingrid, of
Shreveport; her daughters, Kathleen LaCoste and her husband, David, of Berwick and Cindy Ribardi and her husband, Eddie, of Patterson; three stepdaughters, Velma Menard of Lafayette, Rose Lasserre and her husband, Frenchie, and Gloria Michelle and her husband, Angelo, all of Plaquemine; one stepson, Dave Cavalier Jr. and his wife, Ellen, of New Iberia; one brother, Herbert Estave and his wife, Gertrude, of Berwick; two sisters, Melba Pennison of Bayou L'Ourse and Seola Himel of Thibodaux; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by 15 step-grandchildren; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Cavalier Sr.; her parents, Henry Estave and Olympe Boudreaux Estave; her stepmother, Ruby Manley Estave; and two sisters, Sylvia Rhodes and Eula Mae Pennison.

Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.
