Hester was born in Paducah, KY on January 23, 1918 to Elijah E. and Evie Curtis Hays. She began an 18-year career at Union Carbide in accounts payable/data processing departments during the construction of the plant. Hester was a faithful and longtime member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She loved having visitors to her house and each was treated with candy, Coca-Cola and strawberries. Hester kept in touch with her family and friends by frequently sending handwritten cards.
She is survived by her brother, C. Alfred Hays; niece, Cindy Lain; nephews, Mark Hays and Harold Wagner; great-nieces, Mandy Anderson, Tara Beasley and Kisten Lain; and her late nephew's wife, Judy Culley.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert E. Geuss; sisters, Edna Wagner and Dorothy Culley Huddleston; nephew, Bill Culley; sister-in-law, Mary Hays; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10am Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Al Bremer officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
