Known as Abe and Abram

This is not the son of Isaac Dewitt and Sarah Deven/Dever. Their son Abraham was born in 1843, died in Henry County, Indiana in 1917 and is buried HERE in Knightstown, Indiana.

This is not the son of Jacob Dewitt and Mary. That Abraham C DeWitt was from Perry County, Indiana and served in the 40th IL INF out of Xenia, Illinois. At the time of his enlistment, he was living in Wabash County, Illinois. By 1860 that entire Dewitt family was in Wabash County, Illinois

Married to the widow Emma/Emily Amanda Cole Putnam Long Chamberlain on 11 November 1890 in Dubois County, Indiana as Abraham Dewitt to Amanda Chamberlain.

Wife Emma filed for Civil War Widows pension in Crawford County, Indiana on January 25, 1894

Abraham Dewit age 39 born in Kentucky, wife Julia age 33 born in Indiana with children, John H age 13, Lafayette age 11, Chrissy (?) H age 8, Shelby (son) age 6, Moses age 2 (gap between some of these children means some may have died in infancy. Son George W age 10 is gone.
