Born on December 28, 1872 in Nancledra, Towednack, Cornwall, England, Emily Jane Broad immigrated to American in about 1887 with her mother Jane Broad. The identity of her father is uncertain, but she did gain a stepfather, Henry Rowe Jr., when he married Jane on August 11, 1887. Emily became the stepsister to Henry's five surviving children with his first wife. The family resided in Central, Michigan, where Henry worked for Central Mine.
Emily Jane married Alfred Moyle on September 19, 1895, at Opechee Location. Alfred was also a child of Cornish parents and worked as a miner and supply clerk. The couple had five children: Clarence, Alvin, Melva, Ethel, and Isabell.
When she died in 1945, Emily was survived by her husband and all five of her children. In addition to her mother, stepfather, and several step-siblings, Emily's granddaughter June Irene Moyle preceded her in death.
She was also the grandmother of Marie Bernice Moyle, Ed Johnson, Robert Moyle, Ramona Jane Johnson, and several others who are not listed on this website.
