Betty "Jan" Van Ooyen, of Highland Village, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, May 6, 2013. She was born November 18, 1942 in Olney, Texas to Harold F. Merriman and Eva Mae Hull Merriman. Jan married Jake Van Ooyen on August 8, 1964 in Dallas. She was a member of Lewisville Bible Church for nearly 40 years and worked as a Special Education Aid at Lewisville High School. Jan is survived by her husband, Jake; 3 daughters and 1 son; 10 grandchildren; 1 sister and 2 brothers. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Hannon. graveside service will be held 11:15 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. A celebration of Jan's life will follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Lewisville Bible Church. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
