James Blaine Rominger was the youngest of seven known children of Isaac James Rominger (1842-1918) and Mary Elizabeth Knotts (1850-1916), who married 20 Feb 1870 at Bartholomew County, Indiana. Isaac was first married to Almira (Elmira?) Ellen White (1848-1868) on 05 Sep 1865 at Orange County, Indiana with whom he had two known children. After Mary died, Isaac remarried to the widow Rachel Edna Morrison Carter (1855-1919) on 03 Oct 1916 at Grant County, Indiana, but had no known additional children.

James first married to Clisty (Clysta? Chrystie?) Mae Oldfield (1894-1976) on 23 Oct 1910 at Summitville, Madison County, Indiana. James and Clisty were the parents of two known children, namely:

1. Thelma Almeda Rominger Baker (1911-p1945)
2. Harold "Bud" Gilbert George Rominger (1915-1996)

James and Clisty divorced, and James remarried to Grace C. Delph Baker Thompson (1897-1977) on 11 Mar 1922 at Delaware County, Indiana. In 1930 James and Grace were living alone at Anderson, Madison County, Indiana. Clisty remarried to Howard D. Gwin (1887-1979) and Grace remarried to a Mr. Hancock.
