John Anderson Corbin was born on May 18, 1844, in Illinois, the 2nd son of James and Lucinda (McWhorter) Corbin.

His siblings were: Joshua McWhorter, Louisa, James M., Mahala, Hampson, Charlotte, and Nettie Corbin.

On December 28, 1871 he married Catherine Spurrier in Boone, Iowa, and to this union was born: William, James, Hattie, Carl, Clyde, Orin, and Bert Corbin.

John was a farmer. After he and Catherine married their first son, William was born, in Iowa. They ventured west, and settled in Kansas, where John continued farming, and the other children were born.

By the year of 1900, the family relocated to the Oklahoma Territory, and shortly after this move, John passed away on Feb. 8, 1902.
