So-called "queen" of the Shreveport red-light district. Arrived in Shreveport at the end of the Civil War as a camp follower. She acquired a sizeable estate, a top line of credit at her bank and a respected position in the community. She was an art patroness and had a reputation as a philanthropist. Died, June 13, 1920, of an attack of pneumonia following the amputation of her left leg due to a gangrenous foot.
