Death due to diabetes. Died at St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka, Indiana.
MISHAWAKA DAILY ENTERPRISE 8 June 1925, page 3. Ezra Leroy HOPKINS, 821 East Grove Street, 68, a resident of Mishawaka for 65 years, died Sunday at midnight in St. Joseph's hospital. He had been in failing health for a number of years, complications from which resulted in his death. Mr. HOPKINS was born June 27, 1857 in Penn Yann, New York state, coming to Mishawaka with his parents when three years of age [i.e. ca 1859-1860]. Forty-five years ago he was married to May TRABER, who survives him. Mr. HOPKINS, who was employed at the Mishawaka Rubber and Woolen Co.'s plant, was a direct descendant of John Samuel and John Quincy ADAMS. He was well known in Mishawaka as an ardent sportsman. Surviving him beside his wife are a son, A.E. HOPKINS of Mishawaka and two grandsons. The body may be viewed at the SPRAGUE chapel up until the time of the funeral at 2:30 Wednesday in the chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. L.C. ROGERS, of the St. Paul's Episcopal church. Wharles WOOD, Josepy COLBERT, Richard BORDY, A.E. KUHN, James NETTELTON and O.P. SMITLEY, all his intimate friends, have been chosen pallbearers. Burial will take place at the City Cemetery.
