Hiram H. HOPKINS, son of William C.HOPKINS [1798-1872] & Mary [Polly]__[1817-1889]. At his enlistment in the Civil War, he was described as having dark hair, light eyes & being 5-ft 9-in tall. He is brother to William Calvin HOPKINS [1841-1862] who is buried next to him in this cemetery [see photo]. Hiram H. HOPKINS was married 29 Aug 1865, Elkhart, Elkhart Co., IN, to Adaline HILTON [1850-1892], daughter of Eli HILTON [1812-1863] & Mary Helen KINGERY [1814-1900]. They had 3 daughters: Anna B. HOPKINS [1867-1883]; Nellie May HOPKINS [1869-1893]; Alice D. HOPKINS [1871-1907]. Hiram was a farmer. He died at age 33y, due to tuberculosis. His widow married 18 Sep 1877, Elkhart, Elkhart Co., IN to Solomon FREDERICK and she married a third time, prior to 1883, Coleman E. SEAMAN.
