Jewel Marie Parsons, 79, of Greensburg, died Monday, June 10, 2002, in the IHS of Greater Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
She was born Sept. 1, 1922, in Opelousas, La., a daughter of the late Sydney and Myrtle Evans Ducharme. Prior to her retirement, she was a teacher's aide in the Opelousas School District in Louisiana.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Sybil Soileau; and two brothers, Sydney and Dr. Robert Ducharme; and a grandson, Tyler Young.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Gorman of Pittsburgh, and Beverly Young of Greensburg; three sons, Daniel Parsons and Gary Parsons and wife, Barbara, all of Pittsburgh, and Steven Parsons and wife, Sandi, of Jeannette; a sister, Beverly Talbot of Opelousas, La.; eight grandchildren, Peter Gorman and wife, Donna, Carissa, Daniel and Erin Parsons, Travis Young, Rebecca Parsons, Jessica McArdle and husband, Michael, and Vanessa Kumar and husband, Alok; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, beginning Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. A memorial service will follow in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 437 Guy St., Jeannette, at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Paul O'Connor officiating.
A private interment will take place in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westmoreland Hospice, 532 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA
