MRS. EMMA MATHER SUCCUMBS TO ILLNESS.
Mrs. Emma Mather, 77, widow of the late J.C. Mather and a sister of Dr. C.A. Aplin, city health officer, passed away at her home, 212 Sixth Street, Monday at 11:45 a.m., following an extended illness. She would have been 78 years old in April.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m., from the Adams chapel, with the Rev. H. K. Hawley, pastor of the congregational church, officiating. Burial will be in the Ames cemetery.
Mrs. Mather's husband died in 1917, several years after he retired from farm life. He had resided for a long time on a farm near Ames, and on moving into the city, built the residence which remained the home of both until their deaths.
Mrs. Mather is survived by a son, Ben Mather, residing on a farm near Ames, and a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Good of Menominie, Wis. She also leaves her brother, Dr. Aplin, and wo sisters, Miss Clara Aplin of Ames, and Mrs. Anna Meek of Minburn, Iowa.
