Harry Burnett graduated from St. Mark's School and Harvard University. He worked for Joseph Burnett Company, founded by his father, and became a member of the firm in 1880 and elected treasurer upon its incorporation and then director until his death. He was Vice President of Mass. Hospital Life Insurance Company. He served as tree warden of the town of Southboro and was treasurer of St. Mark's School and the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Boston. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and the Somerset and Tavern Clubs.
