Rites Announced
After an illness of two years Alford Whitten Moyers, SR. died at his residence on Athens, Route 4 at five o'clock Friday afternoon. His funeral was conducted at four o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. S. D. Lankford at Tanner Methodist church, of which Mr. Moyers was a loyal member. Interment was in Tanner cemetery with McConnell Service in charge. He was born Feb. 1, 1880, and was a native of Limestone.
The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Pinkie Moyers; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence B. Campbell and Mrs. Bobbie L. Brooks; four sons, Leory, William, A.W. Jr., and Woodrow, a brother, Sherrell Moyers; and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Evans and Mrs. Rodger Thompson.
Mr. Moyers had been actively engaged in farming until ill health caused his cessation of much work. He was highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends and his death is greatly deplored.
