THE BURTON FUNERAL

Final rites for Edward R. Burton, 85 of 1132 East Rusholme street, Davenport, a retired salesman who died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday. . . Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery.
Mr. Burton, former employee of Sterling Products Co., died in St. Luke's hospital following a three weeks' illness.
He was born May 8, 1866, in Aqua [sp] (should be Ashville), Ohio, the son of Thomas Burton and Harriett Pontiac [sp] (should be Pontius) Burton. He attended schools in Paola, Kan., and had resided in Chicago for a time before coming to Davenport in 1920. He married Tunie Reynolds [sp] (should be Reynoldson) in Chicago, Dec. 31, 1889. She died in September, 1950. Mr. Burton retired about three years ago.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, the Corner lodge, No. 875, AF&AM of Chicago, Zarephth Consistory and Kaaba Temple Shrine.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Jennie Burton, Davenport; a sister, Mrs. W. R. Freeman, Los Angles, Calif., and a brother, B. P. Burton. Source: Davenport Morning Democrat, April 30, 1952, pg 18
