His wife's name is unreadable, but according to Rushford & Rushford book by Helen J White Gilbert, her name was Esther Gary was born in 1791 & died 188-. Daughter of Enos Gary(1757-1844) & his wife. Joseph & Esther were married on 10/13/1808 in Weathersfield, VT.
Joseph & his family came to Rushford, NY in 1810 by Oxen team & it took them 22 days. He settled on Lot #31 north of his father in law Enos Gary. Later owning land on the Canaedea Road in Rushford. He kept a tavern on the west side of Upper Street & was a member of the Rushford Masonic Lodge.
Joseph Young & his wife Esther Gary had 12 children, but their children that lived to maturity were:
1. Winthrop G Young((1809-)married Widow Snow
2. William P Young(1811-1882)
3. Esther Young(1820-1902)married John G Osborn
4. Harriet Young(-)married Albert W Bannister
5. Stephen Young(-)not married & was tollgate keeper.
