Son of Elijah & Nancy Price

Colonel Price was born in Martin County, North Carolina. His parents emigrated from, Maryland, and were among the early settlers of North Carolina.

In 1821, Colonel Price married Temperace Thomas, the daughter of Ichabod and Susannah (Barnes) Thomas. They moved to to Alabama about 1830, and while there Elijah Price served in the State Legislature. In 1841, they moved to Texas. He was also an active member of the Mosonic Lodge, having advanced to the degree of Royal Arch
