Singer. He will be remembered as one of the greatest performers of Italian rock'n'roll among the 60s and 70s. Born Antonio Ciacci into a family of artists for generations, he began his musical career singing in restaurants, dance clubs, dance halls, theaters and in vaudeville. He was soon noticed by the English impresario Jack Good who convinced him to go with his brothers in England where founded music ensemble 'Little Tony and his brothers'. In 1958, Tony recorded several hits including 'Lucille', 'Shake Rattle and Roll' and 'Il barattolo e Sassi'. In 1961, he had the first real opportunity to launch his music career in Italy when he was invited to sing the successful hit "Ventiquattromila baci" at the Sanremo Festival in tandem with Adriano Celentano. He achieved great success and in the same year he recorded soundtrack for films such as 'Bella Pupa e Grazia', '5 marines per 100 ragazze', 'Perché mi hai fatto innamorare', 'Rocco e le sue sorelle' and 'Pugni pupe e marinai'. In 1962, he got his first record success with hit 'll ragazzo col ciuffo' which reached the top of the Italian music charts. In 1963, he took part in the Cantagiro Festival where he gets a 2th place with 'Se insieme ad un altro ti vedrò' written by his brother Enrico. The following year, he competed again in the Sanremo Festival with the song 'Quando vedrai la mia ragazza' and in the same year recorded 'Ogni mattina', 'Viene la notte' and 'Riderà', international success also recorded in a English version. In 1967, he recorded 'Cuore matto', very successful hit which remained at the top of the charts for twelve consecutive weeks. In 1968, he participated at the Canzonissima Festival where sings ''Lacrime' and 'La donna di Picche'. In 1975, Tony paid tribute to Elvis Presley with the album 'Tony canta Elvis', interpreting various classics. In the 80s with his colleagues Bobby Solo and Rosanna Fratello, he co-founded music ensemble 'I Robot'. His latest albums were 'Ragazza italiana' (1988), 'Aspettami in America' (1990), 'Gli anni d'oro' (1995) and 'Se io fossi nato in Texas' (1999). He died after battling a bone cancer.
