Raymond was born in Oklahoma and moved to Arizona sometime before 1921. He moved with his Mother and 2 brothers back to Oklahoma when his father died in 1921.
Raymond had two brothers: Rollen and Luther. Raymond was not physically eligible for military service. Raymond died in February 1944 and his younger brother, Luther was KIA in Italy in August 1944. At this time the oldest, Rollen was serving in the U.S. Army with the 6th Infantry Division in the Pacific. Rollen died in 1993 and is buried in the Woodlake District Cemetery in Tulare County, California. Luther is buried next to his mother at the Highland Cemetery, Okemah, Okfuskee County, Oklahoma
