Born in Germany but emigrated to Poland/Fabianyka,Russia after ?? War. Had a farm and married Albertina Rohde. They had eight children of whom I know seven:
Henry Mantay, Frederich Mantei, Christof (Christopher)Mantay. Emily Mantei Kiuse, Wilma Mantei Lasky Pool, Adolph (died in teens) Wande (Died in teens) According to my grandmother, Maria, Christof was run over with a farm wagon by one of his hired hands. My grandmother believed he was murdered because the Polish people hated the Germans. Also according to Maria, Mantei is a French name. Maria, and her two sons, Fredric and Robert , visited the Mantei's in 1922. She hired a wagon to drive her out to farm and her father-in-law yelled at her because she paid the driver $5.00 and that was way too much. She visited them even though it was a very dangerous time because she thought they should see their grandchildren.
