My grandmother believed he was murdered because the Polish people hated the Germans. Also according to Maria, Mantei is a French name. Maria, and her two sons, Fredric and Robert , visited the Mantei's in 1922. She hired a wagon to drive her out to farm and her father-in-law yelled at her because she paid the driver $5.00 and that was way too much. She visited them even though it was a very dangerous time because she thought they should see their grandchildren.
