Sherman Scarbrough of Prescott died on February 7 at Arizona Pioneer’s Home in Prescott. He was 83.
Mr. Scarbrough was born January 19, 1911 in Lewisburg, Kentucky to parents Ulysses Grant and Florence Gertrude Scarbrough. He moved to Arizona in 1920.
Mr. Scarbrough worked as a cowboy in and around the Bradshaw and Weaver Mountains almost all his life. He had at one time owned and operated the Tip Top Mine in the Bradshaws.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 79 in Yarnell.
Mr. Scarbrough had served with the 16th Cavalry during World War II. He is survived by his wife Anne Baker Scarbrough, who he wed in 1945; his brother and sister-in-law Azzro and Dorothy Scarbrough of Prescott; and numerous nieces and nephews.Mr. Scarbrough was given full military honors at a funeral service held at the Skull Valley Cemetery. Officers and members of the Yarnell American Legion Post 79 officiated.
