LIZ AKERS age 88 of Guin, AL, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 in the Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Born in Marion County, Alabama, she is the daughter of the late William Henry and Nancy Velma May Cashion and the Wife of the late John Ray Akers. She had lived in Guin most of her life and had been a member of the En Avant Study Club. She had worked at city hall, was co-owner of The Looking Glass Clothing Store, and taught math at Marion County High School. She was a member of Guin First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her Daughter Amy (Steve) Edwards of Northport, AL, a host of nieces and nephews and extended family members of her son-in-law, the Edwards family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ray Akers, 3 Sisters: Mary Nell Lunsford, Jane Weeks, Chole Ann Green.

Services held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 12:00 noon from the Guin First United Methodist with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. Bro. Tim Alexander and Pastor Judy Shepherd officiating.
