Born November 9, 1892, in Philipsburg, he was a son of John William and Margaret Maugle Abbott. He served with the US Marines in World War I, and was a member of the American Legion Post and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Philipsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Lovell Abbott; one son Robt. of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Daniel W., of Philipsburg; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Grebe of Philipsburg. There are three grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Bence and Bence Funeral Home, Clymer, after 7 pm today where services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, October 4. The James Cummings III will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
Clymer American Legion Post 222 will be in charge of military rites.
