Mrs. Alice Marie "Honey" Sanderson, age 98, of Florence, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Glenwood Rehabilitation and Convalescent Center, after an extended illness. She was born in St. Louis, Mo., and was a member of the Shoals Seventh-day Adventist Church and a costume designer or creator for the Memphis Regalia and Costume Co.Visitation will be today, Nov. 24, 2004, from 2-4 p.m., at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating at the service will be dear friend and former pastor, Dru Roake, and Pastor Lee Whitman.Honey was a giving person and always wanted to be doing and giving to others. She worked with the Community Services in her church from 1975-91. She also worked at the Help Center from 1981-98. She will long be remembered by many folks that she has helped.Honey was a widow and raised six children alone, doing many jobs. The two she enjoyed the most were with Liberty National Insurance. She was one of the first women agents during World War II, when many of our men had gone to fight for their country.Jesus was the focal point of her life, and she looked forward to seeing Him in the clouds of heaven when He comes to take His children home.Honey was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Sanderson; grandson, Dale Sanderson; and granddaughter, Candi Jansen Frezza.She is survived by three sons, Elmer and wife, Carlene Sanderson, of Florence, John and wife, Marion Sanderson, LaFayette, La., and Charles Sanderson, of Florence; three daughters, Marie and husband, Robert Jansen, of Muscle Shoals, Marguerite and Carl Jansen, of Redlands, Calif., and Della Keele, of College Place, Wash.; sister, Audrey Servais; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Jonathan Holland, Don Keele, Randall Sanderson, Randy Sanderson, David Kelley and Mike Kelley.Honorary pallbearers will include Ronnie Campbell, Chris Campbell, Donnie Keele Jr. and Robert Hudson.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Help Center in memory of Alice "Honey" Sanderson. Greenview Funeral Home, of Florence, is directing. .
