Summer Brooke Worrell, 16, of 489 Hare Road, died Tuesday in an automobile accident.

The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rev. Gene Turner and the Rev. Edward Tatum will officiate. A private graveside service will be held at Wayne Memorial Park.

Summer was born in Wayne County on March 28, 1989, to Jarvis and Dianne Hollamon Worrell. She was an active member of Ray of Hope Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and was a rising junior at Eastern Wayne High School, where she played volleyball. She enjoyed puzzles, music and swimming.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandmother, Eula Mae Johnson; and special aunts, uncles, and numerous special friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfathers, Grover E. Johnson and Donald H. Worrell; and her maternal grandparents, Horace Hollamon and Ivey Hollamon.

The family will receive friends at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory following the service tonight, and other times at the residence.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to Ray of Hope Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, Summer Camp Scholarship Fund, 1331 West New Hope Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
