John Clyde Beard, 78, of 403 East Percy Street died Wednesday at the South Sunflower County Hospital. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at the First Baptist Church of Indianola at 10:30 a.m. with burial at City Cemetery. The Rev. Dan Morton assisted by Rev. Bill Harrison will officiate. Beard was a native of Pike County. A resident of this community for the past 52 years, he was a member of The First Baptist Church here and the Indianola Rotary Club. He was a Retired farm manager. Survivors include his wife, Gladys McKinney Beard; one daughter, Mrs. R. P. Brock of Kettering, Ohio; two sons, Dr. J. C. Beard, Jr. of Aiken, S.C., and Vernon G. Beard of Indianola; five sisters, Mrs. Herman F. Tate of Greenville, Mrs. Eric Price and Mrs. Julius O'Neal, both of McComb, Mrs. John K. Moore of Baton Rouge, LA, Mrs. Eddie Thorburn of Camden, S.C. ; two brothers, Dewey W. Beard of Raymond, Miss, and David Beard of McComb, Miss.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
