Civil War Union Soldier. He was mustered in as a recruit Private in Company K, 2nd New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry on September 3, 1864 (his name is misspelled in New Jersey Adjutant records as "Peddlee"). He served through the conclusion of the war, and was honorably discharged at Vicksburg, Mississippi on June 29, 1865.
