"DEATHS - Mrs Sadie Smelzer Wescott - Word was received in Spartansburg yesterday morning of the death of Mrs Sadie Smelzer Wescott, aged about 50 years, who passed away at her home in Buffalo, NY, Thursday night. She was born in Spartansburg and spent her early life there, where she was well known and highly esteemed. She also had resided in Titusville and Oil City, going to Buffalo about six years ago. She is survived by a son, Harold Wescott, with whom she resided in Buffalo, her mother, Mrs Beulah Smelzer, and a brother, Carl Smelzer of Oil City. The body will arrive in Spartansburg at noon on Sunday, and at 2 pm funeral services will be conducted from the Baptist church, with interment in Rose Hill cemetery."

"Spartansburg, March 23 - A large assembly gathered at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon to pay last respects to a former Spartansburg girl, Mrs Sadie Schmelzer Wescott, who passed from this life at her home in Buffalo, NY, Thursday night and whose body was brought here Sunday noon. The services were conducted by the pastor, Rev T P Kelly, who chose for his brief remarks the one word, 'Resurrection.' Interment followed in the Rose Hill cemetery."
