Sketch of Stephen D. Wright which appears in the History of Cass County. This book is available through the Historical Society of Cass County, located in Cassopolis, Michigan. I made the trip there personally; it was well worth it. Great resource and other publications available, too.

This is the main stone for the Write Family buried in this cemetery. Stephen's headstone matches this. The original family stone is quite old. Stephen's mother's grave can be seen behind this stone, set back further. Stephen's wives (two of them, sisters to each other) are buried in a nearby cemetery in LaGrange, which I call the Old Cemetery, LaGrange.

This is a sketch, which appears in History of Cass County, of the Wright family farm, which Stephen inherited from his family and then made improvements to. Another Cass Co. historian said that when the farm was once overrun with rats, a neighbor male with strange abilities wrote the rats a letter and "sent" them to another's house, but "being a Quaker," Stephen couldn't say anything negative about anyone, so where he wanted to send the rats to was initially a problem. Interesting reading.
