He was the son of Isom G. and Isabelle (Tate) Barnes. His first marriage was to Lucy McDaniel - 15 Jan 1908 - Lincoln Co., Tennessee. After her death, he married Mary Earle Parks - 13 Jan 1955 - Williamson Co., Tennessee. His obituary follows:

Funeral Rites Conducted Here Monday Morning For Robert C. Barnes --

Funeral services for Robert Carey Barnes, 79, were held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Carroll Hickman officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery beside his first wife, the former Lucy McDaniel, who died in 1953.

Mr. Barnes died Saturday night at the Mid-State Baptist Hospital, Nashville, after a long illness.

A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Isom G. and Isabella Tate Barnes. He was a member of the First Methodist Church.

For several years, he was an employe of the H. G. Hill Store in Fayetteville.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Earle Parks Barnes; three sons, Gordon and Raymond Barnes, both of Franklinton, Louisiana, and Lewis Barnes of Fayetteville; and four grandchildren.
