Hubert Gordon "Red" Barnes, 78, of Fayetteville, died Monday in Huntsville Hospital after a brief illness.
The funeral was Wednesday at Higgins Funeral Home. The Rev. Louis Johnson and the Rev. Chester Stephens officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery beside his late wife, Mrs. Virginia Kelso Barnes who died in June 1987.
Mr. Barnes was the son of the late Robert Carey and Lucy McDaniel Barnes and a native of Lincoln County.
He was a retired employee of Borden's and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Oliver Lewis Barnes of Fayetteville, and James Raymond Barnes of Franklinton, La.; two grandchildren, Christopher Barnes of Franklin, Tenn., and Kimberly Barnes of Los Angeles, Calif.; a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
