Josephine Beaune was the daughter of Israel Beaune and Adeline Caza Beaune. Her death certificate lists her father as Peter Beaune. That is either his middle name or an error. Josephine was born in 1869 in Pointe aux Roche (Stoney Point) Essex County, Ontario, Canada.

She married Gilbert Lauzon on June 14, 1886 in Canada. They had four children who lived to adulthood: Charles V., Dorothy, Abbie, and Barbara. When they came to the United States Gilbert changed the spelling of their surname from "LAUZON" to "LOUZON." Josephine and Gilbert were divorced in about 1899. It is interesting but not factual, that some records for each of them claim a marital status of "widowed."

Josephine married Theodore Gagnier on October 20, 1908. She died in 1932. Her funeral was conducted at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockwood, Wayne, Michigan. Funeral arrangements were made by the Gallagher Funeral Home, River Rouge, which is no longer in business. Her death certificate says she was interred at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Gravesite Details

I have canvassed the cemetery three times looking for her grave. There is no marker to be found there. Since I don't know when the cemetery was relocated, she may lie in an unmarked grave in either location.
