Irene was baptized on March 31, 1918 at Zion Lutheran Church, Tobias Nebraska. She attended Zion Lutheran Parochial school and was confirmed. She graduated from Tobias (NE.) High School in May, 1936. She worked for various people in Fairbury, Nebraska where she met and married Roy Schultis on November 30, 1941. To this marriage Russell and Janet Schultis were born. Roy passed away July, 1948. She later met and married Duane Wolken and they were married April 28, 1953. To this marriage Doyle Wolken was born.
Irene was a true farm wife and was involved in most farm activities relating to livestock, tending a large garden as well as preparing meals for her family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed stitching and quilting. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a member of ELCW, Eunice Circle.
Her confirmation Bible verse was Psalm 27: "The Lord is my strength and my salvation, whom shall I fear". This verse was a strength through her life. She cherished her faith, family and many good friends.

Irene is survived by: children, Russell Schultis and wife, Carolyn, Janet Skrabal and husband, Al and Doyle Wolken and wife, Marlene; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by: parents; husbands, Roy Schultis and Duane Wolken; brothers and sisters.
Burial was in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Diller, Nebraska.
