He has spent more than 30 years preaching the gospel. He was ever a lover of the pure Word of the Lord. He has preached in several states and territories. Many people have been taught by this humble man of God. On November 27, 1892 he was happily married to Miss Ellen J. Garrett. To that union were born five children, all of whom preceded him to their reward except Tolbert Fanning, one of the best boys that I have ever known. In January, 1908, his good wife left him to go to her eternal home. The home of the good faithful Christian. Brother Stovall was married a second time to Mrs. Ollie B. Greene on August 10, 1908. To that union was born one child, who will never know the love and godly advise of his father. To know Brother Stovall as the writer did was to love him very deeply. He was one of the most godly men of my acquaintances; was ever ready to give cheer to the downhearted and support to the weak, while he was a fine teacher. On November 2, 1918 his spirit took its flight from the mortal realm and went to the God who gave it. He died in the home of sister Maggie Young, sister to brother Early Arceneaux. He died in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He was our missionary in that country. Now that the brethren stood nobly by him in a financial way, will we they not do the same by his family? His wife lives in this town McKinney Texas. She has her baby by Brother Stovall and two little girls that will need to be fed and clothed. Please brethren, remember his good wife. She sacrificed greatly that he might be a missionary in a country where they needed the help. Brother Stonewall told his wife of leaving home for his work, that if anything happened to him that he never got back home, to get brother Kennedy to write to the Firm Foundation about his work, and the brethren would not let her and her little dependents go for lack of support. Brother Stovall had great confidence in his brethren. Brethren, please come to the assistance of the noble, self sacrificing one. Send all your help to Mrs. John L. Stovall, McKinney, Texas. In 1888, he began preaching and continues in that work faithfully. November 27, 1892, he was married to Miss Ellen Garrett. She was a most faithful helper in all his work he engaged in in New Mexico. To them five children were born. She, with four of the children, have passed to the bright home where the Lord dwells. The remaining child, Tolbert Fanning is a Christian.
