Revolutionary War Patriot, James Currie, was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania to John and Marion Currie of Dumfriesshire, Scotland. His military record gives his place and year of birth and lists his wives.

He married Mary Katherine on May 31, 1758 in the Episcopal Church of Lancaster County Pennsylvania.

Since his estate was settled in 1782, we do not have his nor his wife's exact year of death. Estate settlements usually take more than one year, however I assign 1782 for his death and 1781 for the death of Mary Katherine.

When James Currie, Sr. died in NC, sometime before 1782, his wife Mary Catherine was already deceased; therefore the court appointed guardianships for the younger children.

Caswell County, NC Will Books, 1777-1843; 1784 Tax List; and Guardians' Accounts, 1794-1819
