Daughter of Benjamin6 Eddy III and Olive7 Carpenter Eddy; dau of Ezekiel6 Carpenter and Anna.

Olive's family can trace its roots back to Rev William1 Eddy, Vicar of St Dunstan's church in Cranbrook, England. Samuel2 Eddy and his brother John were the first Eddys to come to America October 29, 1630 on the Handmaid that landed at Plymouth, Massachusetts. [Eddy Family In American Supplement 1968]

19312 - "OLIVE EDDY [Benjamin, Benjamin, Benjamin, Obadiah, Samuel, William], b. 1798 in VT; d. June 10, 1858, at Columbus, Pa., m. possibly in Otsego Co., NY, DANIEL WILCOX, b. 1796, in RI, d. 1850 at Columbus."

Married Daniel Wilcox in possibly Otsego Co, NY, July 21, 1818 at the Amity Presbyterian Church in Utica, NY, date not proved yet.

They had 10 children: 1. Sarah married George B. Mourton [Morton], 2. Maria Wilcox, married Clark Rickerson, 3. Julia Ann Wilcox married 1st John Ross, 2nd William Bartlett, 4. Hannah Wilcox, married 1st John Rheubottom, 2nd Rensselaer Rheubototm, 3rd. William Painter, 5. Albert Harrison Wilcox, married Jane C. Bemis, 6. Polly Ann Wilcox, married Frances Willard, 7. Solon Donald Wilcox, married Juliaette Skinner, 8. Jane/Jennie Wilcox, married 1st. Henry Greeley, 2nd Lewis Rowe, 9. Benjamin Lewis Wilcox, married Dimmis Wickwire, and 10. 1830 - Exeter, Ostego County, NY Census, there is a Daniel Wilcox, head of Household on this census. Age would be correct, a male under 40, if he was 35 at that time, then age on headstone of 55 in 1850 would be the exact age. There are two children under five, plus a female under 40.

1831 - Son, Solon DonaLd Wilcox was born on the farm at Columbus, PA.

1840 - Columbus Census, Daniel's household includes 4 males, 4 females.

1850 - Columbus Census, Olive is age 50, with Daniel 55, Polly 21, Solon 17, Jane 16, and Fanny 10.

1850 - Will of husband Daniel Wilcox:

Olive is mentioned in Daniel's will: ... "First, I will and bequeath to my beloved wife OLIVE and to my son Solon the farm on which I live with all ..."

1858 - June 19, Death Notice --- Warren Mail

"Suscide In Columbus - We are informed that Mrs. Wilcox, an old lady about 60 years hung herself at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Frank Willard, in the Borough of Columbus, on the 10th instant. She fastened her shaw to the bedpost in her room and thus effected strangulation before she was discovered by the family. She had been for some time previous laboring under a depression of spirits."

Olive is buried with her husband Daniel Wilcox and son Benjamin Lewis Wilcox in David Curtis Cemetery, Columbus, PA.

Gravesite Details

Of the three graves, hers is in the worse condition. It is more weathered than Daniel's and Benjamin's. It was very firm in the ground when visited in 2002.
