Melvina married William Thomas Smith and they had five children.

Melvina's (Vina)Father was Hamilton Hargraves . On some papers it is incorrectly spelled ( Hartgraves) also some have her father is named Hiram Hargraves, some have James . Her mothers marriage says Hamilton in Murry Co ,Georgia .
Melvina in later years operated a boarding house in the city. All her children lived in Chattanooga, Tn.
Apparently Melvina and Tom were divorced but, on census she claimed to be a widow on the 1920,1930 census Tom lived off and on with his son Thomas and his family.
Her headstone says Melvinie and has wrong birthdate, it should read March 14th,1860 it says March 12,1862 she was 76 when she passed in 1936 . Her death Cert. birth is March 14th
