Noah was born in Ridgefield, Fairfield County, Connecticut in 1713 on the family farm. He was the son of Captain Samuel and Rebecca (Olmstead) St John who was one of the founders of Ridgefield. It is known that by 1720 he was attending church at S. Salem, New York, which is a few miles west of Ridgefield and that his parents were also members of the S. Salem church. On October 16, 1737 he married Jane Smith in Ridgefield. Noah and his wife Jane were admitted to the church on July 22, 1764. Their farm was most likely between Ridgefield and S. Salem. His father Samuel gave to his son Noah a homestead that he bought from Joseph Harris in Ridgefield on November 26, 1737 (one month after he was married). Samuel also deeded land to Noah on September 7, 1742. Noah bought fifty acres of land in Wilton for five pounds and most likely moved his family there. On this land Noah built a log house and successive dwellings have occupied the same spot. Noah built a house for his son Nehemiah (my ancestor)a few rods east of his own. For his daughter Sarah he built a house in the upper part of Wilton near the Ridgefield line in Nod district. Noah and Jane had seven children: Mary, Nathan, Nehemiah, Abigail, Ann, Samuel, and Sarah. Noah passed away in Wilton, Connecticut on October 5, 1778.
