Sophia Bender, 88, of Lodi, died Dec.20 in a local rehabilitation center after a prolonded illness. She was born on Nov. 28, 1912 in Hebron, N.D.

Ms. Bender moved to Lodi with her family in 1913 and has been a resident of the area ever since. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her brother, Edwin Bender of Lodi; and sister, Elizabeth Bauer of Lodi.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; Emil Bender, Katie Mettler, Carrie Bender, Maggie Zweigle, Anna Borth, Margaret Mettler and Lydia Castillou.

Committal will be private. Lodi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
