Gilbert McGinnis, 78, of Mullens died on Thursday, July 10, 1986 in a Mullens hospital. He had lived in Mullens most of his life and attended the Presbyterian Church. He was a retired self-employed dairy farmer.

He was born on July 9, 1908 in Surveyor to the late Joseph Elmer McGinnis (1867-1932) and Lillie Catherine Trump-Clay-McGinnis (1877-1936) (per WV Delayed Certificate of Birth #7261, Raleigh County, WV, Date of Issue: December 1, 1960). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William "Howard" McGinnis (1903-1966); and his half siblings, William Jesse "Jess" McGinnis (1891-1968), Lenora "Nora" McGinnis-Stover (1894-1974), Gracie Clay-Freeland (1897-Deceased), Dennie Clay (1899-Deceased), and William "Hobart" Clay (1900-Deceased).

Survivors include his stepdaughters, Marjory Biggart-Cook of Cranford, NJ, and Billy Biggart-Henson of Wise, VA; stepson, Dr. James F. Biggart of Dallas, TX; his sisters, Delcie McGinnis-Carter (1906-Deceased) of Lake Worth, FL, Betty Lou McGinnis-Keller-Holcomb (1922-2007) of Rockville, MD, Gertrude "Gertie" McGinnis-Kerns (1910-1990), Mary A. McGinnis-Campbell (1913-1989), and Virginia McGinnis-Calhoun (1915-1994), all of Mullens; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be on Sunday, July 13, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Foster officiating and burial at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. today, Saturday, July 12, 1986.
