Alberta Jones Stover Smith, 74, [Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1945], died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Christiana Hospital, New Castel, Del., following a short illness. Mrs. Smith graduated with honors from Concord College, Athens, WV, with a degree in elementary education and library science. She was a member of Tri-sigma sorority. She taught grade school in the New Castle area befoore becoming a librarian at William Penn High School. Mrs. Smith was a former member of First Baptist Church, Beckley, and attended New Castle United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Glenn E. Stover; and her husband of 17 years, Charles E. Smith.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie S. Schwarz of Newark, two sons, David A. Stover of Dover and Ken E. Stover of Alexandria, Va.; two granddaughters, Kristin L. Stover of North East, Md., and Kimberly A. Stover of Wilmington; two great-granddaughters; a brother, Edsel T. Jones of Winchester, Ky; and sister Vera J. Kent of Beckley. Mrs. Smith will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, with Dr. David Carrico officiating. Arrangements by Gebhart Funeral Homes, New Castel.
