Arthur James Robinson was born on December 26, 1861 in Cato, WI to parents Daniel & Francima (Walker) Robinson. When a small boy, his parents moved to Alexandria, MN area where they had a farm on the south shore of Lake Andrew where he grew to manhood.

In 1890, he was united in marriage to Alice C. Steele, also from the Alexandria, MN area. To this union were 3 sons and 4 daughters - Harold, Earl, Elva, Verne, Jeanette, Lucille and Rachel. The Robinson's wanting to own their own land, filed on homesteads that joined the present Stady, ND in 1905. In 1907, they made their permanent home on this homestead. Their first home was a sod house which they lived in until 1916 before they built a new home.

Mr. Robinson was always active in church, civic and social affairs of his community. He took a leading part in the building up of the western part of Divide County. Besides his farming, he operated a general store in Stady for many years, along with his son Earl. He enjoyed duck and grouse hunting.

Arthur passed away on December 12, 1937 in Ambrose, ND. Funeral services were held at the Rudser Church, and he was laid to rest in the Ambrose Cemetery.
