Funeral services for Fred E. Robinson were held Sunday, Aug. 12 at the Emmanuel Episcopal church, Rev. Tally Jarrett officiated. Interment was made in Kinkead cemetery. Pallbearers were Pete Hintzen, Harry Bailey, Elmer Schulke, David Jones, Walter Westlund, Ed Gernand.
Gred E. Robinson was born Feb. 22, 1865, at Cato, Wis., the son of Daniel and Francema Walker Robinson. He reached the age of 86 years, five months and 15 days. He passed away suddenly the morning of August 9 at St. Lukes hospital.
When a small boy, he came with his parents to Alexandria. The family resided in the old stockade for a time, later moving to their homestead in Lake Mary township where Fred grew to manhood. He was educated in the public schools of Douglas county and was a member of the first class to graduate from the Alexandria high school. He later attended the university after which he taught in the public schools of Douglas and Pope counties.
On February 22, 1899, he was united in marriage to Sarah Brophy. They resided in Douglas and Pope counties until 1910 when they moved to Carrington, N.D. In 1911 they settled on their homestead in McKinzie county, N. D., which was their home for 38 years. They returned to Alexandria in October of 1949, which has been their home since that time.
While in McKenzie county, he served his county in a number of ways as school treasurer, township clerk for 15 years and as county surveyor for three years. He was baptized by Rev. Alleyne in the Spiscopal faith and confirmed. He was a member of Lodge 121, I.O.O.F. of Carrington, N.D.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and 20 nephews and 21 nieces.
