Jeanie was born on August 30, 1868 in St Mary's, Ontario, the 10th of 11 children of William Grant & Annie Ogilvie who had immigrated to Canada from Banffshire, Scotland. The youngest child, Ellen, was born deaf and was educated at Belleville School for the Deaf in Belleville, Ontario. She and Jeanie were very close.
Sometime around 1880, the family moved to Manitoba and homesteaded near Lenore. In December, 1891, Jeanie married George Frame and they raised 8 children on their farm: Annie, Weir, Gladys, Jean, Grace, Grant, Evelyn and Jack. Just over a week after the birth of her youngest child, Jack, Jeanie died and was laid to rest in the Breadalbane Cemetery. Her older girls and her sister Ellen helped raise the youngest children. In 1926, Ellen became George's second wife.
