OBIT:

Catherine M. (Bliss) Papineau, 58, died October 19, 2005, at her home following a defiant battle with cancer. She was born in Ellensburg on April 15, 1947, one of three children of Earl and Mary (Robertson) Bliss.

She was raised in and lived her life in Ellensburg and the Kittitas Valley, graduating from Ellensburg High School in 1965. After working two years at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital, she then joined the Ellensburg Telephone Co. staff where she stayed for 38 loyal years. She retired earlier this year due to illness.

In addition to her loyalty to the "old" Ellensburg Telephone Co. personnel and her respect for co-workers, she enjoyed her home, games, family and friends, flowers, crafting, working and especially animals. She and Dave Papineau were married on November 29, 1983 in Billings, Montana, where extended family members live. At her request and as she accepted her fate, she was able to see many family and friends who share memories of her as a strong, patriotic and generous woman who will be sorely missed by all who loved her and appreciated her wit, character and sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl. She is survived by her husband, Dave; daughter, Marcy Papineau; mother, Mary Bliss; and sister, Connie Bliss, all of Ellensburg; brother, Rob (Jan) Bliss of Cheney; nieces, Whitney (Matt) Cieslar and Kira Bliss of Spokane. A public celebration of life and potluck gathering will be in the Home Arts Building on the Kittitas County Fairgrounds on October 29, at 1 p.m. Inurnment will be in the IOOF Cemetery Columbarium with private family services.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Hospice Friends, 302 E. Second Avenue, Ellensburg. Arrangements by Affordable Funeral Care.
